Racism “nice”: Blacks are better
Some days ago, in a television program (El Hormiguero) interviewed Lenny Kravitz, who came to Spain to present a record about, ¡atención!, racism. The presenter Pablo Motos greeted him with a hug and the words: “Blacks are the best!”, This was followed by that of “we move targets poor, are not flexible”… etc
Some people think that racism is hating someone because of race. The issue is far more complicated: Racism is believing that a person and their behavior can be understood and explained from the color of their skin. For better or for worse. That according to your skin is pink, off white, yellow, brown, reddish brown or mahogany you better sing better or worse, work more or less, and understand the world in certain ways.
So, not much difference between saying that all blacks are lazy or say that they are all cute. Clearly, an expression is nicer than the other, but the idea behind both is the same: all blacks (like all white) are equal.
And that's, back to top, the essence of racism.
